Day 1 Nashville: Where to Stay in Nashville and Settling In

Morning:

Drive into Nashville and check into the beautiful Gaylord Opryland Resort. This iconic hotel offers a one-of-a-kind experience with its indoor gardens, riverboat rides, and elegant Southern charm.

The resort is massive, so take your time soaking in the lush greenery, waterfalls, and the soaring glass atriums. Carson and I were completely in awe when we walked through the Delta Atrium of the Gaylord Opryland Resort for the first time. It’s like stepping into another world!

Once settled, head to the Cascades American Café for a delicious breakfast. The open atrium setting is beautiful, and their menu has something for everyone. It’s the perfect way to fuel up for a day of adventure at the resort.

Afternoon:

After breakfast, treat yourself to a relaxing riverboat ride through the Delta Atrium. Yes, there’s a boat inside the hotel! The ride is peaceful and a great way to learn more about the resort’s design and history.

Next, head to SoundWaves, the resort’s upscale water attraction. It’s amazing for kids and adults! SoundWaves features lazy and rapid rivers, thrilling water slides, and even a surfing simulator. You could spend the whole afternoon here. Be sure to book your SoundWaves package in advance. Access is limited to hotel guests with a reservation and requires an additional fee.

Evening:

If you are someone who likes a fine dining experience and does not eat on the run like my son, I encourage you to get dressed up and enjoy one of their fine dining options at the resort. I recommend a special dinner at Old Hickory Steakhouse, one of the resort’s most elegant dining spots.

After dinner, grab a drink/mocktail (or a kiddie cocktail for the little ones!) at Fuse Sports Bar. If you’re lucky, you might even catch some live music. It’s a fun, casual vibe to wrap up the night.

Before heading back to your room, take an evening stroll through the gardens. The lights and fountains create such a dreamy atmosphere, and the nightly fountain show in the Delta Atrium is a must-see. Carson loved it—it felt like a mini theme park right inside the hotel!

Day 2 Nashville: Dive into Nashville’s Musical Heritage

Morning:

Start your Nashville adventure by immersing yourself in the rich history of country music at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum.

Located in the heart of downtown, this museum is the home to exhibits of legendary artists, from Johnny Cash to Taylor Swift. Don’t miss the Hall of Fame Rotunda, where you can see plaques of country music’s most iconic figures. Explore the interactive exhibits and learn about the evolution of country music, making it the perfect introduction to Nashville’s vibrant musical history.

Afternoon:

Next, head to Historic RCA Studio B, a key player in the creation of the “Nashville Sound.” This legendary studio hosted stars like Elvis Presley, Dolly Parton, and Patsy Cline.

On a guided tour, you’ll learn about the studio’s significance and pivotal recordings made at RCA Studio B. Don’t forget to visit the famous “sweet spot,” where countless hits were born.

You can combine your RCA Studio B tour with a visit to the Country Music Hall of Fame how Carson and I did, which provides a comprehensive understanding of Nashville’s impact on music.

Wrap up your first day by heading to Tootsie’s Orchid Lounge, one of Nashville’s most iconic honky-tonk bars. Known for its rich history and legendary performances, Tootsie’s is where country stars like Patsy Cline and Willie Nelson played before they became famous. Grab a seat, enjoy live music, and soak in the lively atmosphere of this historic venue.

Day 3: Explore Nashville’s Iconic Venues

Morning:

Spend the morning splashing and playing at SoundWaves or I highly recommend winding down with a little pampering at the Relâche Spa. Even if it’s just a short massage or time in the relaxation lounge, it’s the perfect way to start your morning. Being a single mom, I am never able to do this but if you are able to, I highly recommend!

Afternoon:

Your third day in Nashville starts with an afternoon visit to the Grand Ole Opry. The most famous country music stage in the world. Take the guided tour to explore the backstage areas. Learning about the Opry’s storied history and stand where some of the greatest names in country music have performed. If you’re lucky, you might even catch a live show in the evening.

Evening:

Wrap up your day with an unforgettable evening watching a show at the Grand Ole Opry. If there’s a show happening (and there usually is!), it’s a must-see. From country legends to rising stars, every performance feels special in this iconic venue.

Carson and I were completely mesmerized by the live music and the energy in the room. The wooden pew seating created a very intimate setting — it gave us chills!

Even if you’re not a huge country fan, the atmosphere is electric, and the talent is amazing. Be sure to arrive a little early to grab a snack and take in the buzz before the show starts. It’s the kind of Nashville night you’ll never forget.

Evening:

Finish your Nashville getaway with a visit to Love Circle, a hidden gem offering panoramic views of the city skyline, perfect for watching the sunset. Afterward, grab dinner at a rooftop bar like L27 Rooftop Lounge, offering breathtaking views of the city’s skyline.
