Day 1 Sedona: Arrival and Settling In
Morning:
Arrive in Sedona and check into your accommodation. A great choice for comfort and luxury is the Hilton Sedona Resort at Bell Rock. Nestled at the base of Bell Rock, this resort offers stunning views, modern amenities, and a perfect location to explore the area. The resort features spacious rooms, a spa, and access to a variety of outdoor activities like hiking and golfing. Carson and I loved this resort and encourage you to read about our experience at Hilton Sedona Resort at Bell Rock for more details.
Afternoon:
After settling in, take a relaxing stroll around the resort to acclimate to your surroundings. If you’re feeling up for it, head out for a short hike to Bell Rock. This moderate hike offers fantastic views of the surrounding red rocks and is a perfect way to get your first take of Sedona’s beauty. If you like a guide, check out a site seeing tour. Or put on your swimsuit and relax by the pool.
Evening:
Enjoy a delicious dinner at the resort’s restaurant or explore local dining spots in Sedona. Opt for a meal with a view to catch a glimpse of the stunning desert sunset. Carson and I ate at the hotel every evening. Mostly room service, but the hotel’s food is amazing!
Day 2 Sedona: Hiking Cathedral Rock and ATV Adventure
Morning:
No Sedona hiking itinerary is complete without a morning trek up Cathedral Rock—one of the most iconic trails in the area. This moderate-to-difficult hike offers stunning panoramic views of the valley and surrounding rock formations.
As you ascend, be prepared for some rock scrambling, but the view from the top is well worth the effort. Remember to bring plenty of water and wear sturdy shoes for this challenging but rewarding hike. Carson and I had quite the entertainment at the top of Cathedral Rock, so don’t miss reading that story.

Afternoon:
For the afternoon, switch gears and get ready for an ATV adventure in the Sedona wilderness. Head out for an exhilarating ride with a local ATV tour provider like Arizona ATV Adventures. This 3-4 hour guided tour will take you through rugged terrain, offering breathtaking views of the Verde Valley and Skeleton Bone Mountain. Along the way, you’ll see wildlife, desert flora, and even film locations used in popular movies. Carson and I had a run-in with my favorite Looney Tunes character during our experience with Arizona ATV adventures.
Evening:
After an action-packed day, return to your resort for some relaxation. Unwind with a spa treatment that is located on the premises or take a dip in the pool while enjoying the desert night sky.

Day 3 Sedona: Hot Air Balloon Ride and Slide Rock State Park
Morning:
Wake up early for an unforgettable experience-a hot air balloon ride over Sedona’s majestic red rocks. Companies like Red Rock Balloons offer early morning flights that let you float peacefully above the landscape. Watch the sun rise over the red rocks, casting a magical glow on the scenery below. This is an experience you won’t soon forget. Read about Carson and I’s surprise landing experience on our hot air balloon ride.
Afternoon:
Next, head to Slide Rock State Park for an afternoon of fun and relaxation. This natural water slide is formed by Oak Creek, and it’s a great way to cool off on a hot day. Whether you’re sliding down the rocks or simply lounging by the creek, it’s a perfect spot to enjoy the beautiful surroundings. Pack a picnic for lunch and read about our must-bring items to Slide Rock State Park.
Evening:
For dinner, check out one of the many local restaurants offering Southwestern cuisine. Enjoy a laid-back meal, perhaps featuring local ingredients like prickly pear, cactus, or mesquite-grilled meats.

Day 4 Sedona: Scenic Drives and Departure
Morning:
On your last day in Sedona, take a scenic drive along Red Rock Scenic Byway (SR 179). This 14-mile stretch of road offers some of the best views of the red rock formations in the area. Stop at lookout points, take photos, and simply enjoy the serene desert landscape.
Afternoon:
If you have time before you leave, consider exploring some of the other hiking trails in the area, such as the West Fort Trail, which follows a creek through a lush canyon, or Devil’s Bridge Trail, known for its impressive natural arch. Both are relatively short hikes and provide another great opportunity to soak in Sedona’s natural beauty.

Evening:
Wrap up your Sedona adventure with a relaxing meal before heading back home.
